Valerie Bertinelli and her partner Mike Goodnough have ended their relationship. After a 10-month romance, the well-known couple has chosen to part ways. A source informed People on Tuesday that “they are no longer in a relationship.” The announcement of their breakup follows shortly after Goodnough posted ambiguous quotes on his Instagram Story. One of the quotes stated, “If you can go a whole day without talking to me, then go another.” Another quote read, “If someone is fine without you, then let them be fine without you.”
Bertinelli and Goodnough commenced their romantic relationship in January, following a period of friendship. In an interview with People in April, Bertinelli remarked, “I found him intriguing. Initially, our relationship was purely platonic, yet there was an undeniable connection that felt familiar to me. It provided a sense of comfort. He seemed like a kindred spirit.”
The relationship between the cookbook author and Valerie Bertinelli became public only after his appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show. Bertinelli remarked, “He was not supposed to come into my life and here he is. He’s 10 years younger.” Shortly thereafter, Goodnough shared his thoughts as well. “I am Valerie Bertinelli’s boyfriend… and that may well be among the most surreal sentences I’ve ever typed. But it’s true… and nothing about our actual relationship seems surreal. It just seems… good… lucky… a gift,” he expressed on his Substack. Despite residing on opposite coasts, they made a concerted effort to avoid going more than three weeks without seeing one another.
Over the summer, Bertinelli acknowledged the difficulties they faced. “The summer has been booked full. It is challenging.” While she openly praised Goodnough on social media, she expressed a desire to maintain a degree of privacy regarding their relationship. “A part of me is just like, it’s been so public and now I’m trying to pull back and make it so much less public, and try to keep some stuff for us now,” she stated. “It’s like, ‘Oh, but, yeah, I let the cat out of the bag.’ I don’t know. I would like to start keeping it between us and make it a little bit more special.”
