Stephen Hawking’s Beautiful Message to Anyone Suffering From Depression

Without a question, Stephen Hawking was among the most intelligent people we have ever known. It shouldn’t be a surprise that he had some excellent advices to provide on depression in light of this.

Hawking used  fantastic examples while discussing black holes: “The message of this lecture is that black holes are not as black as they are painted. They are not the eternal prisons they were once thought.”

“Things can get out of a black hole both on the outside and possibly to another universe. So if you feel you are in a black hole, don’t give up – there’s a way out.”

“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it. If you are lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don’t throw it away.”

Even though he was warned in 1963 that he wouldn’t live past two years, Hawking, who turned 74 the day after this lecture, has battled motor neuron disease for almost 53 years.

He died in 2018. I wish him to rest in peace.

These messages from him really made my day, and they should give hope to everyone feeling sad or depressed. Whatever you are going through, remember, it will be better. Remember Hawking’s words and don’t lose hope. Even he went through really tough times in life, and still lived long and fulfilled life.

If we don’t experience sadness, how would we know what happiness is? Without tough times, we wouldn’t appreciate that much the beauty we experience.

Also, always keep in mind that other people can feel sad and depressed too. So always treat others with respect and love. Share a smile regularly. You never know who is going through rough times. I’m going to share a beautiful quote with you: ” Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle”. The true author of this quote is not specified, but a lot of people say that famous philosopher Plato said it.

If you would like to hear the message for yourself, listen to the lecture he gave below.

I hope you enjoyed reading this article. Share it with your friends if you like it and think others may find it helpful and interesting.  Thank you for reading! <3
